Dr. Ana Doris Ortiz, DVM, CVA Veterinarian
Dr. Ana Doris Ortiz, fondly known as Dr. O, is a second-generation veterinarian with a lifelong passion for animal care. Growing up in Puerto Rico surrounded by her parents, both licensed veterinarians, she developed an early appreciation for the welfare of animals. Dr. Ortiz completed her undergraduate degree at Syracuse University in 1991 and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Tuskegee University in 1995. She then pursued an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Tennessee, completing it in 1996 before entering clinical practice.
In 2001, Dr. Ortiz founded Pet Paradise Animal Hospital to serve the Apopka, Rock Springs, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, and Hunt Club communities, offering both veterinary care and boarding services.
Her commitment to continuous learning led Dr. Ortiz to complete her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA) at the Chi Institute in Gainesville, Florida, in 2014.
In addition to her general practice, Dr. Ortiz has also served as alternate staff at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida. With over 25 years of veterinary experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge in diagnostic work-ups, dermatology, surgery, and alternative medicine. Known for her compassionate approach, Dr. Ortiz blends a high level of expertise with a warm, approachable demeanor, ensuring both pets and their owners feel cared for.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Ortiz strives to make veterinary care accessible to a diverse community, providing exceptional service and treatment with every visit.
Dr. Melissa Carter, DVM Veterinarian
Dr. Melissa Carter earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, where she specialized in small animal medicine and veterinary forensics. A Florida native, Dr. Carter has been passionate about veterinary care from an early age, working in the field throughout her youth.
Her professional interests include integrative and rehabilitation medicine, soft tissue surgery, and hospice/palliative care, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for her patients. Dr. Carter takes pride in offering compassionate and comprehensive care for pets in need of both curative and comfort-focused treatments.
When she's not caring for animals, Dr. Carter enjoys kayaking, riding her motorcycle, and spending time with her dog Nubs, as well as her two cats, Cali and Dani.
With a deep love for animals and a holistic approach to their health, Dr. Carter is dedicated to providing the highest standard of veterinary care in a thoughtful and empathetic manner.
Dr. Anne Kerley, DVM Veterinarian
Dr. Kerley, originally from just outside of New York City, has always had a passion for animals. She earned her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Veterinary Medicine from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and spent a decade working as a veterinary technician before pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, graduating with her DVM from Colorado State University. She also attended Chi University, which has added acupuncture and other Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities to her medical practice. Other special interests include reproduction, ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, and much more!
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kerley cherishes spending time with her husband, their 3 small children, and 2 dogs- Heisman, a mini Bernedoodle, and Hootie, a Basset Hound. Reading and exploring the theme parks of Florida are a favorite pastime, and she looks forward to traveling again when the babies are a bit older, as she is a dual citizen of Ireland.
